Remembrance Sunday 2018

Date: 11th Nov 2018 Author: West Monkton

At 11am this morning, the West Country fell silent as we remembered those who gave their lives fighting for their country. We joined other Scouters, Veterans, Serving Members of the Armed Forces as well as the general public to offer remembrance to those who gave everything for us to have our all!

It was of course, a particularly special Remembrance Day, marking 100 years since the end of the First World War. 137 very smart West Monkton members present. A big thank you and well done to all the Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Young Leaders that took part.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
