Scouts Caving

Date: 16th Jun 2019 Author: Matt Ellett

After the success of the cubs caving day, back in the spring, this Saturday saw the Scouts getting their turn underground.

Travelling up into the Mendip Hills, the Scouts got to work out their techniques in the various challenges in Goatchurch Cavern.

There was a range of different aspects in the caves; from crawling through small gaps, climbing, walking, crouching, or even squeezing their way through to the other side. Each group also had the chance to sit down and experience the feeling of being in the dark and allowing their eyes to adjust. A fun experience for all Scouts to turn their torches off and listen to what was around them. A huge thank you to the instructors that were terrific.
