Scouts Winter Camp 2019

Date: 20th Jan 2019 Author: West Monkton

32 Scouts braved the elements to have a Wintercamp in January 2019 – conditions were suitably seasonal, with plenty of mud and rain at Huish Woods Scout Campsite. With everyone well prepared for the conditions though, there was no stopping the Scouts from having a good time.

On Friday night, as the Scouts arrived, the heavens opened. The Scouts did a great job of pitching their tents in the rain, before stopping for a bite to eat. Then it was back out in the rain again for the first wide game of storm the fort.

On Saturday, the Scouts planned their own scout camp, covered safety of knifes, axe’s and saws, and learned the importance of camp hygiene. The Scouts prepared their evening ‘Hobo’ meal packed with mince and vegetables before placing it on the fire. Chocolate eclairs freshly made around the fire was loved by all, before heading into the Gazebos to watch a couple of films!

The Scouts cooked breakfast on Sunday morning, and then it was time to pack away the tents before heading home to warm showers!!

Big thanks to the leadership team that made the weekend possible.
